Literature Text

On proud display these scars I bear,

Marks of pain I wish to share

I hold them high upon my sleeve,

Plain and simple for the world to see

Tears flow freely down my face,

Then vanish from my cheeks without a trace

As I pull myself together, stand tall and proud,

Hearing the voices that call out loud:

“Please dear friend, cheer up,” they request,

And suddenly I am not so depressed

In this life I am blessed with many a friend,

Whom I will never forget, and love until the end

Their words are healing, their concern is pure,

These voices, these feelings…

That is my cure.
As you can tell, I was somewhat depressed when I wrote this. Don't worry, I'm better now. I generally don't write poetry because
a) It's not my strong point
b) I find rhymes a bit annoying

but I wrote this while having a bit of an emotional meltdown, and looking back over it I thought it was pretty good. So here it is.
I do indeed have some very special and wonderful friends in this world. They know who they are. Thank you so much for always being there for me (even if you're not in hugging distance).
